The Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme is a centrally sponsored initiative launched by the Government of India in 2022. It aims to establish over 14,500 PM SHRI Schools by enhancing existing schools to showcase the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Key features of the PM SHRI scheme:

• Upgrading existing schools: The scheme focuses on upgrading existing schools managed by the Central Government, State/UT Governments, local bodies, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS).

• Implementation of NEP 2020: PM SHRI Schools will serve as model schools, demonstrating the principles and practices outlined in the NEP 2020.
• Focus on holistic development: The scheme emphasizes the holistic development of students, including their academic, physical, social, and emotional well-being.
• Emphasis on experiential learning: PM SHRI Schools will promote experiential learning through various activities like projects, field trips, and hands-on learning experiences.
• Focus on teacher training: The scheme will provide comprehensive training to teachers to equip them with the skills and knowledge to implement the NEP 2020 effectively.
